Divine Timing: Trusting the Process
Suhba Club Editors

“Patience is not just the ability to wait, it’s how you behave while you’re waiting.”1 - Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya
In a fast-paced world, the desire for instant results has become a natural part of daily life. Whether it’s in our personal lives or in raising children, our pursuit of quick success can sometimes make us overlook the beauty of gradual growth. We want our children to learn quickly, behave flawlessly and achieve without stumbling. Yet Allah through His creation, teaches us that growth is a gradual journey, with each stage unfolding according to His divine wisdom.
Think about how Allah could have made a child appear in an instant, yet He chose a period of nine months for a baby to develop in the womb. It’s a deliberate and beautiful process, one that allows space for nurture, preparation and growth. Similarly, a small seed could have been designed to become an oak tree overnight, but instead, it takes years, slowly growing strong and resilient. These examples remind us that true development is gradual and that every step in the journey has its purpose.
For parents, it’s natural to feel frustrated when progress feels slow. When a child struggles to learn or faces challenges, we might see it as a setback. But what we perceive as delay or difficulty could be Allah’s perfect plan, His way of nurturing resilience, strength and patience in our children. A challenge that seems like an obstacle might be a hidden blessing, equipping them with the skills they need to thrive later in life.
The Prophet ﷺ beautifully captures this in his words: “Know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship”2 This Hadith serves as a reminder, that every struggle carries within it the promise of relief and every victory is born out of patience.
Trusting in Allah’s timing means allowing growth to happen naturally. It means nurturing with patience, whether we are helping a child through a tough phase or waiting for our own aspirations to bear fruit. By embracing this gradual process, we teach our children and ourselves, that with every hardship comes ease and that every effort - no matter how small, leads to a meaningful reward.
